We set out on this journey because we were frustrated with the lack of fashion for plus size girls. Just because we gain a little extra weight doesn't mean that our fashion sense goes out the window or that we stop caring about fit and quality.
To find clothes that we loved and wanted to wear we had to scour the straight size section for a roomy extra large and hope that it fit. Or we had to pray that we could find something fashionable in the plus size section.
We do a pretty good job. But it is work; far much more work than a regular size girl has to put in to throw a great outfit together.
Anywho, one day while in the car driving somewhere (probably to or from lunch) we had an idea. It was a light bulb moment. We'd recently struggled to find dresses to an event. We'd made several purchases online but nothing was working out. We were sad and stressed out, when we thought: "Why don't we open a plus size clothing store?" There was nothing in our area and we knew plenty of family and friends who were having the same issue.
But we didn't want to open just any plus size store. We wanted it to be modern and trendy. We wanted the clothes to be something that any girl would love to wear regardless of size. We didn't want to offer something that screamed "BIG GIRL ALERT!"
So we made a decision; we were going to put our business skills and fashion sense to work. We knew it was going to be hard work but we jumped in feet first. We instantly put a timeline together and started working on our business plan at a local coffee shop. We found the perfect location (Frederik's Court in Solvang, Ca). And we stumbled upon some pretty awesome clothing lines.
So here we are, realizing our dream and counting down the days to our opening, yahoo!
All of this wouldn't be possible without the help, guidance and support of our family and friends. A big shout out to all of them; you know who you are.
First, we hope to offer all of the curvy girls in our area a special place where they can walk in, try on clothes, and leave feeling beautiful, confident and super chic! Next, the world....
